The 4 Core Rules of Refinement & Inheritance
Directly extracted from the in-game help pop-up (ℹ️). Learn these 4 rules to optimize without wasting resources.
1. Refinement Restriction: Equipment Lv. 50+
In-Game Rule:“Refinement Restriction: Refinement can be used for equipment level 50 and above.”
Gear below level 50 does not have refinement functionality. Once you reach level 50 and equip your first eligible piece, the hourglass refinement icon and forge tab unlock.
2. Refinement Queue: Up to 4 Concurrent Slots
In-Game Rule:“Refinement Queue: Refinement Queue 2/3 opens at levels 60/70 respectively, and activating a monthly card also unlocks an additional refinement queue.”
Each refinement queue independently refines an item over its 10-minute forge cycle. With the Monthly Card active, you can forge 4 items concurrently (e.g. Cloak, Helmet, Gloves, and Ring) quadrupling your progression rate!
3. Refinement Stat Slots: 3 Lines (Lv. 50, 70, 80)
In-Game Rule:“Refinement Stat Slot: Refinement Slot 2/3 unlocks for equipment levels 70/80 respectively.”
Each stat slot rolls an attribute with its own level tier (Lv.1 to Lv.9). On Lv. 70-74 gear, the first 2 slots are active and roll stats within the Lv.5 to Lv.9 bracket. Slot 3 unlocks on Lv.80 gear.
4. Refinement Inheritance: Zero Loss on Your Lv.9 God Rolls
In-Game Rule:“Refinement Inheritance: Refinement stats of the same part can be inherited. If the number of refinement slots during inheritance is fewer than the refinement stats of the target equipment, inherited stats beyond the limit will be inactive.”
You can inherit all refinement stats onto a newer piece of the same equipment slot (e.g. helmet to helmet). If the new equipment has fewer unlocked slots, extra stats are NOT lost: they remain safely stored and automatically activate when the gear reaches the required level!
Cycle Completion: Safe Decision (Apply vs Cancel)
Why you will NEVER accidentally lose your good stats
Unlike punishing MMOs where rerolling instantly erases your current stats, Whoa Adventure features a completely safe confirmation system. When the 10-minute forge timer finishes, the screen shows a side-by-side comparison between your existing stat and the new roll.
Apply Refinement (Golden Button)
If the new roll is an upgrade or better fits your build (e.g. upgrading from Lv.7 6.38% to Lv.8 6.91% Attack Bonus), tap 'Apply Refinement' to lock in the upgrade.
Cancel Refinement (Red Button)
If the new roll is worse or rolls an irrelevant stat, simply tap 'Cancel Refinement': the roll is discarded and your gear keeps 100% of its existing stats intact!
Deep Dive: Superior Refinement (Level 9 God Roll)
Verified in-game on Winter Night Rose Lv.74
On equipment level 70 to 74, the in-game roll range is capped between level 5 and level 9 (5~9). Rolling a stat at level 9 represents the pinnacle of refinement: a 'Superior Refinement' granting massive bonuses such as +7.44% raw Attack Bonus! Paired with a +12.75% Penetration Bonus (Lv.7), this piece outclasses any non-refined gear.
100% Guaranteed Inheritance : Thanks to the Inheritance rule, this Lv.9 roll transfers directly onto your future Lv.80+ helmets without losing any value!

Chapter 1 — What is Refinement?
Refinement is a Forge system that adds or develops secondary stats (affixes or sub-stats) on equipment.
Refinement is a Forge system that adds or develops secondary stats on equipment. These extra stat lines are often called affixes, sub-stats, or refinement stats.
The main item level is not the only thing that matters. Two players can wear equipment of a similar level and rarity, yet one can perform much better because their refinement lines fit their class while the other player has random or incompatible stats.
For example, an offensive Priest can benefit from a combination such as Attack, Critical Hit, Penetration, and Accuracy. A piece with these four lines has a clear offensive purpose. By contrast, a piece containing unrelated stats may increase displayed power but offer less value in real combat.
Refinement is therefore a build system. It rewards players who decide what they want before using stones.
- •Adds or upgrades secondary affixes and sub-stats on equipment.
- •Item level and gear score are not enough: correct stat synergy decides combat power.
- •Offensive Priest ideal synergy: Attack + Critical Hit + Penetration + Accuracy.
- •Always define your target build requirements before rolling.

Chapter 2 — Refinement is RNG, Not a Guaranteed Upgrade
Every refinement attempt is an RNG dice roll. It can improve your piece, but it can also roll lower or useless stats.
Every refinement attempt involves RNG: random number generation. The game chooses the result from its available pool of stats and values.
That means a refinement can produce: a stat you want, a stat that is useful but not ideal, a stat that does not suit your current class, a better version of an existing result, or a lower and less useful result than what you had before.
This is why players receive refinement stones regularly. The system is designed around repeated attempts, not one perfect click.
Do not look at refinement as a staircase where every tap moves upward. Think of it as a random search. The winning strategy is to define your targets and stop when the item becomes strong enough. Four relevant stats at decent values are usually much better than one perfect line surrounded by useless junk.
- •Refining is a non-linear dice roll, not a linear progression ladder.
- •Results can roll lower, shift to useless stats, or overwrite good rolls.
- •Daily stone abundance is built specifically for iterative rerolls.
- •Golden rule: Settle for good multi-stat synergy rather than chasing impossible single-stat perfection.

Chapter 3 — Stat Lines and Refinement Levels
Gear tiers dictate available stat slots: early gear holds up to 4 lines, new tiers can start with 2, and endgame gear reaches up to 6 lines.
Equipment can hold multiple refinement stat lines. The number of available lines and the refinement progression depend on the item's tier and the options displayed in the Forge interface.
From current player observations, the refinement layout changes as equipment progresses: early and mid-level items can display up to four refinement stats; at some higher equipment thresholds, a new item tier can begin with fewer available lines (such as two) before further progression unlocks more potential; and at advanced endgame levels, high-level gear can reach approximately six refinement stats.
Do not assume every item has the same number of stat slots just because an older item did. Always open the Forge panel and inspect the actual item.
Before investing any stone, check: the item's level, its current refinement level, active lines, remaining potential lines, current stats, and whether this item is a long-term part of your build.
More lines create more potential power, but also create more RNG variance. Quantity is valuable only when the lines work together.
- •Early/Mid gear: up to 4 refinement stats.
- •New tier threshold: can start with 2 lines before unlocking more.
- •Advanced endgame gear: scales up to approximately 6 refinement stats.
- •Always inspect the Forge screen directly before consuming stones.
- •More slots increase power ceiling but also expand RNG risk.

Chapter 4 — Normal Refinement (10-Minute Cycles)
Normal Refinement is your everyday forge system: roughly 10 minutes per cycle, uses regular stones, and forms your early solid stat foundation.
Normal Refinement is the standard refinement process. It uses regular refinement stones and is the system players will use most often while building their equipment.
NORMAL REFINEMENT TIME: APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES. The short timer makes Normal Refinement appropriate for gradual, frequent progress. Start a refinement, continue your daily activities, then return after roughly ten minutes to check the result.
Normal Refinement is best used for: establishing the first useful stat lines on an item, improving current equipment during normal progression, building toward your class target stats, making regular use of stones earned from everyday gameplay, and testing which stats appear on a piece.
Normal stones are common compared with superior materials, but they are not unlimited. Do not waste dozens of them on every piece you loot. Use them on equipment that has a reasonable chance of staying in your build.
Start with Normal Refinement and aim for a functional stat package first. If the item gains several stats that support your class, stop and use it. You can return later when you have more stones and a clearer reason to improve it.
- •Cycle duration: approximately 10 minutes.
- •Uses standard refinement stones received daily.
- •Best for creating a solid foundation of 3-4 class-aligned stats.
- •Never waste standard stones on gear that will be discarded within days.
- •Stop as soon as a functional stat package is achieved.

Chapter 5 — Superior Refinement (7h30 Cycles at High Levels)
Superior Refinement uses rare superior stones for high-tier progression, requiring up to approximately 7h30 of forge incubation at advanced levels.
Superior Refinement is the advanced version of the system. It uses rarer superior refinement stones and is intended for more valuable equipment progression.
SUPERIOR REFINEMENT TIME: UP TO APPROXIMATELY 7H30 AT ADVANCED LEVELS (confirmed in the latest version of WHOA, visible on in-game screenshots, scaling up from shorter cycles to 7h30 for high-tier level 70+ gear approaching rank 9).
This is not a small difference: Normal Refinement takes about 10 minutes, while Superior Refinement requires up to 7h30 at advanced levels.
A Superior Refinement should never be started casually. It is a long-term commitment that consumes a rare material and occupies an extended incubation window.
The best moments to launch a Superior Refinement are: before sleeping, before work or school, before a long offline period, when you are certain you will keep the item long-term, and when you do not need to replace it immediately.
Do not start a 7h30 Superior Refinement just before a major equipment transition. If you expect to loot a replacement piece soon, wait. The piece must be valuable enough to justify both the rare stone and the 7h30 incubation timer.
Superior Refinement is not 'Normal Refinement but better.' It is an endgame commitment reserved strictly for core equipment.
- •Cycle duration: up to approximately 7h30 at advanced endgame levels (latest version).
- •Normal (10 min) vs Superior (up to 7h30): a major strategic difference.
- •Uses rare Superior Refinement Stones: do not waste on temporary gear.
- •Always launch before logging off for sleep or work to optimize idle time.
- •Never initiate 7h30 incubation right before Alliance Wars or Monster Invasion.

Superior Refinement: Lv.9 God Roll success (+7.44% Attack) and management of up to 4 parallel forge queues.
Priority Stats: When to Stop Refining?
